Ascension of Our Lord Church Parish is transitioning to a Family Catechesis Program for teaching religion to Kindergarten through 12th graders not in a parochial school. The novena in honor of the Holy Spirit is the oldest of all novenas since it was first made at the direction of Our Lord Himself when He sent His apostles back to Jerusalem to await the coming of the Holy Spirit on the first Pentecost. It is still the only novena officially prescribed by the Church. Addressed to the Third Person of the Blessed Trinity, it is a powerful plea for the light and strength and love so sorely needed by every Christian. This Novena begins on the day after the Solemnity of the Ascension, Friday of the 6th Week of Easter, even if the Solemnity of the Ascension is transferred to the 7th Sunday. This year the novena will begin on Friday, May 10th. Pray for the gifts of the Holy Spirit for our leaders and ourselves in this difficult time. Click here to access the novena.

Applications for the Knights of Columbus Father Benjamin Piovan Memorial Scholarship are now available. Completed applications are due back by Friday, May 3rd at 4:00pm. All 7th graders from Ascension of Our Lord Church Parish (Catholic or public school student) who will be attending St. Charles Catholic High School for the 8th grade in the Fall of 2024 are eligible to apply. Blessing of the St. Joseph Altar in Piovan Parish Hall will occur on Sunday, March 17th after 8:30am Mass. The Altar will be open for viewing after all Masses on Sunday and from 9-4 on Tuesday. We invite all to visit the altar. Click for the schedule.

The Altar Society are making their popular Italian cookies in Piovan Parish Hall every day Mon - Fri from 9am-1pm. All are invited to help out. No experience needed! The Knights of Columbus Catholic Youth Leadership Award program offers all Louisiana high school seniors who are practicing Catholics the opportunity to apply for this award. Our Annual Christmas Mass of Remembrance to remember our departed loved ones will be held on Wednesday, December 13th at 6:30pm.
